Whānau, tamariki and bears turned up to kindergartens everywhere last month to celebrate the role of soft toys in supporting tamariki through lockdown, and it proved to be a Facebook winner. Holding the event at all kindergartens at the same time, the way we did with the Open Day, enabled us to promote it and gather a lot of attention with the photos and stories that emerged.
Events like these bring benefits at so many levels - they help build and consolidate those important whānau connections, give waitlist parents and caregivers the opportunity to get a feel for the kindergarten experience and make connections, and produce some fantastic content for our Facebook page and other channels. And of course, more enrolments.
They're fun, too!
"Our whānau and children loved it," says Mathers Road head teacher, Joanne Lynch. "This has inspired us to have a special event each term on different days so everyone can have the opportunity to attend. We often get very positive feedback from our parents about our open door policy. Having this event added another layer to this."
Thanks to all who put so much time and energy into making this such a great event -
If you haven't had a chance to check out the Facebook album, head over and have a look - and don't forget to like the page while you're there!
