Kidsfirst Stars

It's great to see so many kindergartens getting positive scores from parents - most Kidsfirst ratings are a 5, and it's very rare for a kindergarten to score below a 3. The comments that whānau leave say it all - the majority of them mention kaiako and the friendliness and warmth of our teaching teams.

Please do encourage whānau to leave us feedback through the form on the site and by rating the kindergarten on Facebook and Google. Those social media reviews are becoming increasingly important in whānau decision making.

Sometimes, reviewers will even mention their own history with the kindergarten, like this one: When I moved from afternoon to morning kindergarten, the kindergarten also moved from Pleasant Point to its new home in Bridge Street. So I was a first-day pupil at this establishment. I am guessing it must have been January 1957.

We do monitor these reviews and do our best to work with Google if something negative appears that we believe is unbalanced or the result of a personal issue on the part of whānau, however it can be a difficult and long winded process, and often they will not remove a review despite us being able to show it is malicious in intent.

On a positive note, here's a smattering of recent ones, all 5*:

Hargest Crescent: This is a truly magical place for little ones to learn and grow! The teachers are exceptional, its abundantly resourced and the playground feels like a big backyard - with grass, trees and veggie patches. I couldn't recommend highly enough. I just wish... I could stay and play all day!

Pitcairn: Best...I've ever come across. Teachers just love their job and so dedicated as should be. They know each individual child really well. My daughter has been well cared for by all staff. She is clean, nappies clean and everything upto date when I pick her. Everything is A+ Highly recommended ☺

Hornby: I love this Kidsfirst. Friendly teachers and parents... love to keep my kids in this school until they turned 5.. my kids loves to go school every day

I went there in the early 90s and kept my 5th birthday circle for many years. I had a friend going by the name Lornie who had red hair and we were best of friends. Lost contact of her when she started school at Waltham. Those were the days.

Portsmouth St: Excellent kindy, absolutely amazing ladies, my daughter will forever remember her time spent at Portsmouth Kindy xx

Frankton: Friendly and cooperative teachers, Abundant resources, Great atmosphere

Phillipstown: Awesome environment and great teachers. Highly recommended Kindergarten in the neighbourhood.

Cotswold: Great teachers and an awesome growing environment for kids.

Selwyn St: Amazing place to start the day off for little people. Has proud group of parents supporting staff. Safe site.

Selwyn St Kindy is a truly wonderful place. Amazingly caring and talented staff who create a beautifully welcoming and supportive environment and community. The teachers are all 100% qualified and you see every day the amazing work they are doing with our kids to inspire them to be curious learners and connected citizens. The kids have so much fun with all the wonderful activities they provide and the large outdoor areas, while learning so many important social skills, figuring out who they are and how to great on with others. Parents are welcomed to be involved in any ways they like and this makes it have a true sense of community where everyone enjoys knowing eachother and being a part of the place, both young and old. I can't imagine a better place for my wee ones to be and find their place in their world. Thank you for being so awesome!

Parklands: Fantastic kindergarten with fantastic staff who are focused on the best outcomes for your child. Excellent routine and time set aside for activities to ensure the growth of your child both mentally, physically and socially.

Lovely Teachers and great learning environment

Sunbeam: The teachers are communicative and good at what they do, leaves me at ease. The school is filled with fun and learning and just so lovely. The kind of early learning environment I would very much love for my daughter to be in.

Queenspark: a calm, opportunity-filled centre with a varied outdoors area and ideal mix of activities and space indoors. Even better is the staff team, who are incredible at balancing children's needs, parent support and relationships, tasks/logistics, and general positivity and perspective on top of all that. Could not wish for better!
