Nau mai, hoki mai, welcome back! I hope you’re feeling refreshed and energised to get back on our waka and head for success in 2025. Whether you're reconnecting with familiar faces or meeting new whānau for the first time at our Open Day, this is our chance to build whanaungatanga and create lasting impressions.
Here’s how we can make it happen:
Be Intentional: Every conversation is an opportunity. Take time to listen, understand, and connect meaningfully with each family and tailor your korero to their needs. Remember, each whānau will be driven to us for different reasons: some need to know their child will be safe and nurtured at kindy, some want to know about our education programme, and some just need time out. Some need lots of detail while others are happy to browse our website for information.
Show Enthusiasm: Your passion, energy and whakamanana are contagious. Let your excitement set the tone and show whānau what a great place kindy is! This applies to your emails as well as kanohi ki te kanohi.
Be Proactive: Reach out and engage with new families early, whether they’ve arrived on your waitlist through online enrolment, or have walked in, emailed or called you. A warm welcome can make all the difference and manaakitanga is what we shine at. Have our FAQs and brochures ready, demonstrate how to pre-enrol online, and always follow up with a call or email inviting them back to Stay and Play!
Stay Present: Focus on each interaction fully—whether in person, on the phone, or online. Show you care by having a plan in place with your team to allow you to do this. If it’s just too busy, make sure you call or email that day to follow up, or use your postcards to make another time to visit. You can be sure that the family has probably called other services too – the competition is fierce!
Let’s make the most of every opportunity to build connections and strengthen our Kidsfirst community. Together, we can make this year one to remember for all the right reasons! 😊
Ngā mihi nui,
Jen
