Values can be so hard to define – and even harder to express in ways that connect with everybody. Their core mostly remains the same over time, but how they are articulated does need to shift and change with the times.
Kidsfirst's values are ideas that guide us in the 'how' of what we do every day, and have direct ties through to the Association's vision, and strategic goals. Our Strategic Plan gives us direction as to the 'what' of our everyday work, while our values connect us back to the 'why', and the 'how' we go about it.
Our annual Values awards celebrate the ideas that sit at the heart of Kidsfirst, and while the words that define them are important, what matters more is what they mean to each of us.
Just after this year's AGM, and as the Kidsfirst Values Review got underway, we asked some of our kaiako about what the Kidsfirst values meant to them.
