It was a busy and fun session at Head Office last week as everybody got together to unpack the Uara Waypoints and look at ways to both express them, and bring these ideas into everyday working life.
The day started out with Pouhere Ako, Jasmin Ngawai, giving an overview of the concept of Uara and the ideas behind each individual Waypoint.
Each team fed back their thoughts on each of the concepts, and what emerged was real consistency in how everybody saw the Uara, and where and how they would be useful.
The group reflected on themselves as individuals and as a team, and thought about the things they do, the people they engage with and how the values might guide their behaviour in big and small ways. They then identified three things in their daily mahi that were good starting points for an Uara-driven approach.

All of the internal and external teams, people, agencies and organisations Head Office interacts with were identified, and a common theme that emerged was how valued these working relationships are.
The work was rounded off with the identification of areas that would benefit from some focus through an Uara lens. The day was a great reminder of how much Head Office staff enjoy one another’s company, and a commitment was made at the end of it to find opportunities to get together more and keep the journey alive.

The Head Office team will meet again in the New Year to continue their work in making the opportunities they have identified reality. In the meantime, large worksheets that captured the ideas from the day are now a feature of the Board room wall as an everyday reminder.
