February 10th, 2022 marks our third annual Open Day – a fantastic opportunity to showcase your world of kindergarten.
Thanks for letting us know your thoughts on timing – we’ve taken those on board, and the later date will mean primary school will be back, and everybody will be out of holiday mode, while allowing those who are still undecided an opportunity to get a glimpse into kindergarten life.
The things that will make your Open Day fly are the same as you’ll be using all year round to sustain interest in, and engagement with, your kindergarten. Those who do best:
Pay extra attention to the physical environment.
Make sure visitors feel welcome and special.
Have a clear idea of what makes the world of their kindergarten special and how Kidsfirst is BetterBecause.
Use the digital resources available, and have their own plan for staying in touch with interested and waitlisted whānau.
Know that it’s not just the information about the kindergarten philosophy, your kindergarten and Kidsfirst that has the greatest impact – but the experiences whānau and tamariki have when they engage with us.
Looking to boost Open Day numbers? We’ll be promoting the event through online advertising, but that’s only part of the picture. What you do locally can make a big difference.
As always, friends and family are your best bet. Encourage existing whānau to let others know it’s happening. Give them fliers to pass on, and see if you can get these out into the community, too – maybe the local library, community centre, or supermarket. And don’t forget to put up your Open Day posts.
All the resources you need can be found here, in Sharepoint.
