We were delighted recently to receive koha of more than 230 pairs of winter shoes from Christchurch footwear company, 2FeetTall. As is often the case, the donor was a former parent who was keen to support tamariki.

"My children both went through Sunbeam and I remember dropping them off and quite often saw children with shoes that I didn't really think were appropriate to wear at this time of year. I thought, there has to be a lot of  kindys around Christchurch that need them," she says. "When I took over 2Feet Tall  it came with a lot of unsold stock. Rather than it just going to waste, I thought there must be some children out there that really need shoes, especially this time of year.  Rebecca says getting tamariki into quality footwear, early, can make a lifelong difference.  "Having the right, supportive shoe is really important as you get older. A lot of feet problems start from when children are young." As so many whānau do, Rebecca has only good things to say about her time as a kindy parent.  "Kidsfirst does an amazing job - both of my kids still talk about their time there, and they still remember their teachers. They just thought it was the greatest place ever." "I just hope the children can get good use from the shoes and stay a bit warmer this winter." If your kindergarten is the lucky recipient's of 2Feet Tall's generosity, we would love it if you could please send us a photo we can share on Facebook - it's always good to give her sponsors and donors all the profile we can.
