New, eye-catching kindergarten signs and banners are appearing on fences and footpaths all over the network.

These are excellent tools for getting your kindergarten’s name out into the community, and we know that signage is named by almost 10% of those who get in touch with Kidsfirst as the way they found us. It all adds up and every little bit of profile helps – prospective whānau might have been told about their local kindergarten by friends and family, have been reminded by a Facebook ad, had it suggested to them as part of a Google search, and been prompted to fill out an application form when they spotted a footpath sign. You never know what will tip the balance, so if you’re looking for enrolments, you’ll want to pull out all the stops.

Flags and footpath signage allow kindergartens to get visibility without having to go through expensive resource consent processes for a larger fixed sign, and are a great way to get attention if you’re down a quiet side or no exit street, or down a long driveway.

All of these resources only work if they are out and about, and being seen. It IS an effort to put out flags, banners and footpath signs each morning and bring them in each afternoon, but kindergartens who do it routinely tell us it makes all the difference.

If you’re short on numbers, make it a priority to get your kindergarten noticed. Let’s get those signs, flags and banners out there and put them to work. But don’t forget to bring them back in at the end of the day – they’re valuable assets that are worth protecting.
