As we all prepare for the next Alert Level change, we've also been getting a brand new ad and parent information campaign ready so we can help parents navigate the 'new normal' and get the Kidsfirst name back out there.

The campaign has 6 key elements:

  • It's fronted by teachers, and the content is designed to promote connection and provide reassurance about heading back to kindy after the shift to Level 2.

  • There are a series of four ads fronted by teachers - each focusing on different stages of the COVID response, including information right now about getting through the last few days/weeks of learning at home, encouraging parents to make the most of their time with tamariki and not get too stressed about the learning. Once we get a clear direction on when Alert Level 2 will happen, we'll shift to content that encourages attendance and reassures parents that kindergarten is a safe place for tamariki to be. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for these.

  • We've also recorded a series of story reading videos with teachers using books we have copyright clearance for. These won't be visible without a link, because of the publisher's terms, but we will be promoting these to our Facebook audience via newsletters, and we would love for you to do that through Educa, too. You can view - and share them - here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsdvx0gQwqzTVQpkEmAM6FYYOoaE5MmhL. You'll need to share this link, not individual videos, because they are unlisted.

  • Also on the Kidsfirst You Tube channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl0pbY-TuxpfkvrgYvAnZNg there are a series of shorter videos on specific topics, that we'll add to over time. Right now, the Learning Through Play, Helping Tamariki Through COVID and Transition to School channels are live. We'll be adding non-COVID related content and playlists soon.

  • You'll see a new Kidsfirst 'brand' ad soon, too - the main message of that one is reminding whānau (and prospective whānau) about the importance of routine, connection, and all of the wonderful things kindergarten offers to tamariki - as gentle encouragement to get them back to kindergarten.

  • Once there is more clarity about Alert Level 2 and what it means for kindergartens, whānau and tamariki, we'll be launching direct email messages to waitlist parents to supplement that great job you're doing in staying in touch with them.

Thank you so much to all the teachers and head teachers who have given so generously of their time, to date - you are such fantastic champions for Kidsfirst, and we're so grateful for your wisdom and enthusiasm.
