It's hard to believe it's November already and we are just a matter of weeks away from the end of the year - and, as it transpires, a very sad end of year for Kidsfirst Pitcairn Crescent, which will close at the end of Term 4.
I would one again like to acknowledge the professionalism of the teaching team, led by Rebecca Herbert in supporting families during this difficult time. It is never easy to have to close the doors for the last time, and is such a loss for the community, too. We are relieved that we have been able to accommodate the majority of Pitcairn children at other kindergartens from next year.
Sadly, for some kindergartens, market conditions are such that no amount of advertising and local promotion makes a difference. Pitcairn has been on the list of kindergartens with extra marketing support this year, and have worked hard to engage locally. Sometimes, however, all the will in the world is not enough.
Other kindergartens are more fortunate to be able to get their name out, show how they and Kidsfirst are different, and capture their share of waitlist and enrolments.
Again this year, we are in the midst of preparing ads for an early New Year advertising campaign, which will launched in early December.
This year, our marketing will get yet another boost, thanks to the completion of the new website. The site has been live for almost a month, and we're already seeing a jump in visitor numbers. As well as having a more contemporary and fresh look, it's easier to get around and get things done, with 'action' buttons (contact us, finda kindy, apply) more prominent. There is a new testimonial section and new-look kindergarten pages, too. If you haven't had a chance to check it out already, please do.
Our new Pouhere Ako, Jasmin Ngawai, has hit the ground running - if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting her yet, you can read more about Jas in this edition of Connect. I'm excited to see the work she is already doing and the passion and vision she brings for the future.
I have enjoyed seeing everyone at the Roadshows, and very much appreciated all the feedback and ideas - I always come back with a great deal to reflect on and much to get excited about, too. Thank you again for the warm welcome Jen and I received.
Remember, you can email me any time - you don't need to wait for the next event.
I also thoroughly enjoyed getting out and about during the last term break to help with kindergarten clean-ups. Thank you for your warm welcomes - I love having the opportunity to be a part of your teams, even if just for a few hours here and there.
I look forward to seeing you soon,
Ka kite koutou
Sherryll
