Another Magical Kindy Connection

When retired Kidsfirst kaiako Sandy Laffey saw a recent facebook post about Wakatipu’s birthday, she remembered an old newspaper clipping from the time it opened.

The story, which was headlined 'Kindergarten now reality at Queenstown' shows now-Head Teacher Sally Hogg with a group of happy children in the sandpit. One of those children was Sandy's nephew.

"He was one of the first to go to the kindy when it opened, heading straight for that sandpit and the diggers."

Sandy laughs that all these years later, her nephew is working on heavy construction equipment in Queenstown. Like they say, the more things change...
