Nau mai, hoki mai, welcome back, to those who had an opportunity to take a break over the last few weeks.

Winter is always a busy time of year, but the extra pressure of COVID, and the onset of winter illnesses makes time away even more precious. If you did manage to get some downtime over the term break, I hope you managed to relax, and that you were able to immerse yourself in some of the things that bring you at least some joy.

While COVID numbers appear to be slowly plateauing, or even declining, it seems the pandemic is far from over, and we will be making adaptations for some time yet. It is so important that you take care of yourself and one another as we head into the second half of the year.

There is some fantastic mahi going on around the network, and I am continually impressed by the ways kaiako rēhita and kaiako matua are keeping up the energy, creativity, and kindergarten spirit – despite it all. And at the steady reliable support being provided by those at our Head Office, who do all they can every day to ease the pressure on our teaching teams. It’s times like these that kindergarten comes into its own, but also, that Kidsfirst shows what it is made of. I am so proud to be a part of this organisation, and everything it stands for.

Ngā manaakitanga ki a kōutou,

Sherryll
