It was so good to see everybody again at the AGM. The mood of this important event adds real meaning to the Kidsfirst’s annual calendar.
This year’s board elections saw some changes - we were sad to see Viv Ruth leave us after four years as Chair of the Kidsfirst Board and six years as a member. We were also sad to farewell board members Chelsea Houghton, Luke van den Broek and long standing board member Phillip Roth. We welcomed Pariya Behnami, Andrew Dorgan, and Belinda Graham to the Board, and I look forward to working with them.
It was a special moment when Kidsfirst’s new waiata was sung for the second time. Having a dedicated waiata, that has been gifted to us, is a milestone for the organisation as it continues its bicultural journey.
As always, we celebrated the Better Because Value Awards together once the formalities of the AGM were over. Each year the quality of the entries just gets better - and I felt a great deal of pride in reading about the innovative work going on in our kindergartens throughout the judging process.
I would like to express my thanks to Peter Fleming for his assistance in taking photos, Chandra Parkinson and all who assisted with organising the event, and the awards judging.
A special thanks, also, to the Professional Leaders Team for another successful Hui. This is another event that gets better and better every year.
Our big events are over for the year, but I look forward to seeing teaching teams over the coming months.
